Apatosaurus louisae
Fossil Size:
Length from head to tail:
about 69 feet
Weight: about 30 tons
Diet: Herbivore
Habitat: Land
When: 146-138 Million Years Ago
Skeletal Features: You might know Apatosaurus by another name—Brontosaurus! Apatosaurus was a huge dinosaur from the same family as Diplodocus. Although very similar, Apatosaurus was shorter, heavier, and thicker-boned than its friend Dippy. However, Dippy's tail was no match for the whip-like tail of Apatosaurus!
