About the Design
"Typosaurus" features headlines from Pittsburgh’s past, hand-stamped on the newspaper’s signature color, to create a must-read dinosaur. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette staff artist Emily Escalante used typography to bring history to life. Using a timeline of the city's events, the artist selected significant headlines to highlight. The style of lettering is a reference to the old hot-type technique of newspaper printing.

This dinosaur will appeal to everyone who cares about First Amendment protections…free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the right of the people to assemble and to petition the government. "Typosaurus" is speaking to you.
